Preparation & Notes
Fresh random stool submitted in sterile container. Refrigerate if transport delayed. Rectal swab also acceptable. Note:Clostridium difficile is not detected by this test. Order Clostridium difficile toxin test Routinely cultured for Salmonella, Shigella and Campylobacter. Specify if other organisms ie: Yersinia, Vibrio, E.coli 0157) are suspected.
