Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s) from a fasting patient (8-hour). Spin down and send 1.0 mL of serum refrigerated or frozen in plastic tube. PRECAUTIONS: Do not order on patients who have recently received methotrexate or other folic acid antagonists.
