Male - urethra, discharge use mini-culturette Female - vagina, cervix, rectum: use culturette Submit without delay DO NOT refrigerate "Female - do not use lubricant on speculum. Cervical mucus should be removed first before inserting swab into endocervical canal, move swab from side to side allowing serveral seconds for absorption of organisms by the swab. Return swab to the transport tube and label. Male - using small wire swab, gently scape the anterior urethral mucosa or, use a swab to collect specimen of urethral discharge"
